5th Month - Oct 3 to Nov 3, 2015

Going to be another picture overload post... be forewarned!

Zach continues to have weekly soccer games.  Avery also likes to go to the games.  She's usually playing with one of the sisters of the players or, even better, is with John, the love of her life currently.

October means our annual trip to the pumpkin farm.  The decorations don't change much each year but our kids sure do!
Avery is 40" tall now!  And Zach is almost at 50".  Conner is just about 26".

This might be our first family picture!  A lady was kind enough to take it for us.

A show of love between siblings.....
And then Zach tripped Avery right after the previous picture and she got all mad.  :D

I'm still grumpy from that fall.....
Just kidding!

Conner went in for his 4-month checkup.  He's in the 90% for both height and weight.  Head circumference is in the 50%.  Doctor says his head is now a bit flat on the right side.  He's also starting to prefer to sit up instead of lying around.  He still hasn't flipped over yet but we don't really put him on tummy time much.  I much prefer him immobile.  :P

Zach had his first parent-teacher conference.  With three kids, we can only manage to send one parent to the meeting.  Phil went and reported back that the teacher had nothing bad to say!  He does seem to have matured quite a bit in the last year.  About time!

His soccer skills still leaves much to be desired.  But at least he's no longer crying at every game.
Maybe he was just too excited that Grandparents are coming to visit!
This is the first time Conner has seen Grandpa Lo in person!  They hit it off right away, chatting and smiling in the car right after Mommy picked them up from the airport.

What is it about grandma's and feeding babies?  This time, it's a tomato and Conner was having none of it.
Conner still loves his baths.  He usually gets them nightly and Daddy gives it to him.  Mommy likes to hand Conner off to Daddy the second he gets home.  Bath time is Daddy-baby bonding time.  Nowadays, Conner usually goes to bed by 8pm.  Night times usually mean 1-2 feedings but we'll get to the monthly schedule later.

Baby has also rubbed a bald spot on the back of his head!

We made a day trip to Gilroy Gardens.  It was Avery's first time and she had a blast!  She's tall enough to ride most of the rides.

One of their favorite rides was this self-controlled duck boat.  Avery couldn't reach the pedals so Ah Ma had to do most of the work.
Zach was tall enough and he really enjoyed navigating and propelling the boat.  He even told Ah Gong to not do anything so he can do it all himself.

We tried to go back at the end of the day but the line was too long.  It's a good thing we hit this ride first.
Baby is too small to go on most of the rides.  It was a good chance to test him out in the baby carrier.  He enjoyed being able to see things but still preferred his stroller for comfort.
The only ride baby got to go on was sitting in the back of the car while Avery drove.  Passengers are supposed to be able to sit up on their own, but they let Conner go.  He didn't really know what to make of this new vantage point.

Like Zach, this ride was Avery's favorite!

Zach is tall enough to go on all the rides, even the larger roller coaster.  He was apprehensive at first but really liked it after the first ride.  This was him coming off the ride.

Sadly, Ah Gong couldn't stay very long and had to fly back to Taiwan for work.

Conner got to try out his first shopping cart ride.  Seemed to be digging it.

On his down time, he likes to snuggle up and read a book.  Actually, he really does.  He gets fascinated with pictures and he will smile if there is a picture of a kid.

End of October also means Halloween.  Avery's preschool went on an outing to a pumpkin farm.

Conner got introduced to the Jumperoo.  He wasn't sure what to make of it at first.  All the motion startled him.  But then he started liking it.  Once he started jumping, he didn't know how to stop.  After the first day, he has a love-hate relationship with the Jumperoo.  Some days he loves it; other days, he can't stand it.

Halloween also means costumes.  Avery dressed up as Anna from the movie Frozen.
Zach was Batman this year.
Conner's Schedule at 5-Months-Old

8:09pm Asleep.  Mommy goes to sleep around 10pm after older kiddies are asleep.

4am Feeding.  Middle of the night feedings are still kinda random.  Some days it's once, some twice, and a very few nights would require three night feeds.  Majority of the time, it's once but the time of the feeding varies.

7am Awake, feed.  He always seems to wake up around this time.  He's usually the first one awake, then the kids get up around 7:30am.

Mommy uses the morning lull to sort through baby clothes and do a load of baby laundry.  Conner has pretty much outgrown the 6 month sizes so she's pulling out 12 month clothes for him.
Mornings are hectic as the kids are constantly being told to hurry up or they will be late for school.

8:40am - Out the door with all three kiddies to do the school dropoffs.  Baby falls asleep in the car right before Avery is dropped off (around 9:05am).

Mommy lets baby sleep in his carseat and moves him into the house.  She takes the opportunity to dry baby clothes, finish her coffee, and do some computer work.

10:25am - Baby is awake.  After feeding and changing him, he plays in the bassinet with the mobile while Mommy folds and puts away laundry.  Then she takes advantage of his awake time to call the Anaheim hotel to see if she can change the dates for the Disneyland trip in December.  Unfortunately, they're fully booked so we will have to stick with the dates already planned.
12pm Baby is fussy again so she feeds him.  Then it's off to Costco with baby and Ah Ma.  The Christmas selections are in and there are a couple of good things to get for the kids' Christmas presents.  Baby falls asleep in stroller.

Around 3pm, arrive home.  From here on out, baby is in afternoon meltdown mode.  He doesn't stay interested in anything for more than a few minutes.  It's a round of feed, play, cry, hold, cry, feed.  Mommy's back is sore.

5:52pm Baby finally passes out, but only for about 20 minutes.  But luckily, Daddy has come home with the kids so he's now on Baby duty.  Kiddies eat dinner.  Zach has to hurry as he has piano lesson at 7pm.  After dinner and a shower, Mommy drops him off at piano while Daddy gives baby a bath.  Mommy comes back and gives Avery a shower.

7:51pm Mommy nurses baby and puts him down for the night.
Meanwhile, Daddy goes to pick up Zach from his lesson.  Avery is amazing and reads books by herself as usual.  Daddy starts doing the kids' bedtime routines (brush teeth, story) after he gets back with Zach.  They are usually in bed by around 8:45-9pm.

2:12am Night Feeding

5:54am Night feeding, but baby is awake now.  The daylight savings is screwing with his schedule.  Mommy's exhausted but nothing she can do but get up and start the day.

Hard to get mad at this chubby boy though.  Let's hope next month means more structure in the day!
